3 Spring Classroom Door Ideas That Will Easily Brighten Up Your Space - Teaching with Kaylee B (2024)

My favorite part of teaching is seeing student growth. I love to see where they have come academically. At the beginning of the year, my 2nd graders can’t write a sentence, but at the end they are writing paragraphs with no problems. They make new friends and grow with their social skills. My students even grow physically, and have gotten taller. I love to help students celebrate all the growth they have made in the school year with fun classroom spring door decorations. So today I thought I would share three spring classroom door ideas you can use to help celebrate growth and bring in a little more brightness in your classroom.

This first idea of my list of spring classroom door ideas helps students celebrate their growth with blooming flower pots. I type my students’ names on the flower pots. Then I display these up on our classroom door along with a sign that says, “We have bloomed together.” Adding in a cute banner brings all the bright colors together nicely.

Using students’ names helps build a positive community in our classroom. Students love to see their names. It helps them feel like they are a special part of our class. I have also found that students do their best work when they know it’s going to be displayed.

That is why I have my students do a little writing project to go with it. They finish this sentence, “I have grown this year by…” I first help students brainstorm ideas. Maybe they have growth this year because they have reached their A.R. reading goal. Or maybe they have passed off all their math facts. They might have grown because they have made new friends. It could be anything! Pair this writing project with the banner, sign, and flower pots from my classroom spring door decorations resource and it makes a great bulletin board. I have other spring classroom door ideas that I know you will love. This St. Patrick’s Day one that is perfect for the month of March.

I put up a sign that says, “Lucky to be in Second Grade.” Underneath I hang up four-leaf clovers with my students’ names. They love to find their names. It makes them feel so special.

I also do a little writing assignment with this one. Students write about why they are lucky. Or in other words, what they are grateful for. It can make a great social emotional learning lesson when you pair it with picture books that teach about the importance of expressing gratitude.

As for another spring classroom door idea, this next one is great for the month of April or any time near Easter.

This cute classroom spring door has a bunny theme. The bunny clipart actually looks like the Peeps candy. And the colors of them are the same color as the Peeps candy.

I hang up a sign that says, “Hoppy to be in Second Grade.” Then I hang up the bunnies underneath, which have my students’ names on them. Students love to search through and find their name. It makes them feel so special and at the end of the month I let them take their bunny home.

I also make this into a little writing activity and Social Emotional Learning lesson. We read books about different emotions. Then we have a class discussion about things that make us happy. After that, students complete this sentence: “I am “hoppy” because…”
