Can't get AA website to take my BA #
I recently made my first AA purchase in a while. I've decided to start earning Avios, but the website refused my BA #. It said the name and the account did not match. Not only were they the same as on the BA website, but they also matched what was on my ticket.
Any clues about this? I'm going to ask at checkin if the agent can force the # on there, but I'm a little afraid they don't give a crap and I'm going to get the runaround. "See BA about this;" "See AA about this."

Qantas Platinum Frequent Flyer here who experienced similar difficulties with AA last year. You need to give AA a call or message them and they'll take care of it for you. Once I got them on the line not only were they able to update the frequent flyer details, but also aid me with seat selection on the AA marketed flights I had on the itinerary (including flights operated by Qantas).

I had to spend 20 minutes at the ticket counter explaining my problems (my pre-check wasn't working either) and looking for a solution. It turned out I was missing a digit in the Global Entry number, but I had to do some sleuthing because she wasn't very helpful. But she was able to put in the BA #, although it took her a while. She had no idea why it wasn't working for me. Of course, she was pretty short on ideas in general . . . . But it does seem like a hassle if I have to do this every time I book on AA now.
I think they generally just don't want to you earn on other airlines. Changing to BA knocked me down from group 6 to 7.

when i book on aa.com i ensure i am logged out of my aa.com account and continue as guest and have to manually input all of my personal info but its at that stage i can easily add my BA number at time of booking so hopefully it will not continue being an issue for you.

I've seen this issue with my spouse's BA number from time to time. The number couldn't be entered in at the time of the booking due to a similar error of the names not matching. At some random point in time later, the number was magically able to be applied through aa.com. Just chalked it up to AA's normally glitchy IT.
