She accused school officials of a cover-up to protect a principal who allegedly swore at her on the Edison playground. Cephus told the court she has already undergone three mental examinations and "to subject me to this again would be way past Dayton school officials said they have not received the results of -any psychiatric exam Cephus may have had. Womack died from a broken leg he sustained during the assault at his Steele Avenue home, the Montgomery County coroner ruled Monday. His death raises the city's 1994 homicide total to 25.

Womack was mostly confined to a couch after the bones in his legs deteriorated. The last beating was one of three he suffered since December. SIDNEY MAN 'FAIR' AFTER SHOOTING: A 36-year-old Sidney man was listed in fair condition Monday at Miami Valley Hospital after being shot in the neck Sunday afternoon. The victim, James Price of 414 N. Main called police to report the incident, Sidney police said.

Police Chief Steve Wearly said a 19-year-old Sidney man was in custody at the Shelby County Jail on a charge of felonious assault. A second suspect, a 27-year-old man, remained at large Monday, Wearly said. A small-caliber handgun was used in the shooting. SPRINGFIELD WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN BATHTUB: A Springfield landlord who hadn't seen his tenant in days found her dead body in her bathtub Sunday, authorities said. TOLEDO MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER: A Toledo man has been arrested in connection with the death of store owner Chong Hoon Man, 53, whose body was found last week in the back of his store, Continental Wigs 'N' Things. John Baston, 20, has been charged with aggravated murder. Kendra K. Cooper was listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital on Monday night. Authorities said Cooper was working behind the counter at RBC Video, 201 W. State when a man came into the store and attacked her. The man, described as a white male 5-foot-8 with dark blonde hair cut in a flat top, forced Cooper to the back of the store, police said.

He cut her throat twice, turned her over and stabbed her in the back three times. He returned to the cash register, which was locked. No money was stolen, police said. The suspect, wearing black-rimmed glasses, a black coat, black pants, gloves and a yellow shirt, drove off a few minutes later without paying for $6.98 in gasoline at Botkins Sunoco, 501 E. State St.

Police said the gas station cashier got in her car and chased the man as he drove north on Interstate 75. The cashier lost the blue pickup truck with Michigan license plates In traffic near Cridersville in Auglaize County, police said. Meanwhile, Cooper, bleeding from her neck and back, made her way to Kinneger's Restaurant, 107 S. Main St. Witnesses said Cooper came in and asked for help.

Jones said he was standing several yards away from Abdullah's car when co-defendant Marquis Odell Bailey approached it, thrust a gun inside and shot Abdullah after he got outofthecarandfelL Jones, 18, is charged with aggravated murder and two counts of aggravated robbery. A Montgomery County common pleas jury began deliberating his fate late Monday afternoon. Bailey, 17, has pleaded guilty to aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and having a weapon under prohibition stemming from a previous charge.

He was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison. Last week, Bailey testified that it was Jones who initiated the fatal carjacking. Bailey said he and Jones preyed on unsuspecting prostitutes and their customers in the area of Anti-och and Edison streets and that Jones said, "This is a jack. Ransom DAYTON DAILY NEWS The 21-year-old Jackson Twp. woman who told police she was abducted from the Salem Mall's parking lot has pleaded not guilty to charges of filing a false police report and causing alarm. Shannon Barger was arraigned Wednesday in Montgomery County District 1 Court. A preliminary hearing was set for 10:30 a.m. on April6.

A little more than two weeks ago, Barger told police a man abducted her at gunpoint and forced her to drive him to Coles Motel in Celina. She said the man tied her to a bed and watched television and smoked cigarettes for two days. She said he took her to a dam where a fisherman found her bound and gagged. Barger, a volunteer emergency medical technician who is on administrative leave from the New Lebanon Fire Department, was arrested at home Tuesday. Trotwood police investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest after she failed to show up for a polygraph test at the police station.

Barger did not return repeated telephone calls to her home.
